Four fixes that do most of the work
For an industrial business, local SEO is mostly four jobs done properly. Each page explains the work, what you should end up with, and the shortcuts to refuse, so you can do it yourself or judge anyone you hire.
- 1
Service-area pages
A service-area page is a page about one service in one real area you serve, with details only that area has: delivery times, permits, sites you work at, the people who cover it. Build one only where you can write those details. Everywhere else, list the town on a single service-area page.
- 2
Google Business Profile
A Google Business Profile drives the map pack. For an industrial business, the fixes are: the real business name with no keywords, the most accurate primary category, a verified real location (address hidden if customers don't visit), service areas, correct hours including holidays, real photos, and a website link to the matching page.
- 3
Citations and NAP consistency
A citation is any listing of your business name, address and phone (NAP) on another site: Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, industry directories, the chamber of commerce. The fix is to make every important listing match your website and Google Business Profile exactly, starting with the data sources and the listings buyers actually use.
- 4
AI search readiness
AI assistants answer "near me" questions from pages they can crawl and understand. Getting ready means letting the right crawlers in, stating your business facts as plain text and in LocalBusiness structured data, answering buyers' common questions directly on the page, and keeping those facts identical everywhere they appear.
In what order?
Usually: fix your website's basics (the grader shows which), then your Google Business Profile, then your citations, then build service-area pages. AI search readiness mostly comes along with the first three. If your profile is suspended or your business moved, start with the profile and NAP instead.
